Each year the BPA asks its members to submit a return on the number of live pigs they own under each bloodline name. This helps the BSBC monitor the numbers of each bloodine so they can intervene if required on the bloodlines that are becoming dangerously low.

If you are not a registered breeder with the BPA then you will not be asked to complete the survey and your pigs will be 'killed off' on the system (not on your farm) and will not be in the total numbers.

So in the rare lines they be be slightly better in numbers than appears, however if they are not producing registerable offspring then they are not contributing to the preservation of the British Saddleback

If your pig loses its identificaton e.g. notches are torn / both tags fall out it may be difficult to 'go live' again so give that some consideration.

Bloodlines that are underlined are now extinct!! The BSBC do not want anymore lines to disappear!

BSBC member Vaughan Byrne is working his way through the bloodlines producing a history for each;

so hover your cursor over each bloodline and if you click when a pointer appears you can read all about that bloodline history... eventually they will all be done!

NEIL GILES the BSBC Secretary is currently working on a UK Map to show what bloodlines

are where in the UK. He has it in written format so if you would like to know the answer to a specific bloodline location then drop him an email saddlebackclub@gmail.com
